Recycling options

Best option: “worn-out look” is the new “chick”.

Kaaita Felt Slippers are made to be used for years. In the hotel, they can be washed and reused for a few times, or encouraged to be taken home by guests. After some wear and washing, some pilling might appear. Your slippers are not worn out, by simply shaving off the pills with a fabric shaver, your slippers will appear as new again.

The second best option: Recycle.

Textile waste management is not only something nice responsible businesses do – starting from 2025 it will be mandatory practice, regulated by the EU legislature (Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles). The good news is that KAAITA partner hotels already have responsible options in place.

BASIC OPTIONS
Treat all Kaaita worn-out slippers as textile waste, as advised by official waste regulatory services in your country. This usually means the following options (actual offerings differ from country to country):

1) Put worn-out slippers in textile collecting containers in your neighborhood (eligible for smaller quantities).

2) Dispose of them in the textile containers at any waste management plant near you.

3) Discuss textile waste collection with a waste partner you already use.

KAAITA RECYCLING NETWORK
Join the Kaaita Recycling Network. Our Recycling Partners offer various options to downcycle worn-out slippers into secondary textile fibers, textile filling material, cleaning cloths, etc.

Wherever applicable, please reuse the Kaaita Positivity Box to collect worn-out slippers.
