A Perfect Pair That Challenges a Throwaway Culture
In the world of hospitality, a gentle pair of slippers heralds an exciting new era - one where welcoming a new guest doesn't necessarily mean creating more unnecessary waste. Kaaita Slippers, washable and reusable, are designed for hotels and hospitality services. They are cute, comfortable, and a 101% responsible choice.
We are delighted to announce that, on average, Kaaita Slippers can be washed up to 7 times by our partner hotels. After several years of searching for sustainable and durable felt, these slippers are here to help hosts transition from discarding and throwing away to maintaining and keeping.
Slippers are often an overlooked source of waste, as the average guest is traditionally encouraged to discard the complimentary pair after their hotel stay. Hospitality services such as spas and wellness centres face even greater scrutiny, as slippers are often discarded after just a few hours of use. Further complicating matters is the fact that slippers designed to be disposable are typically made as cheaply as possible, meaning that sustainability, including recyclability and reusability, is rarely a priority.
Kaaita Slippers tick all the right boxes for the environmentally conscious service owner:
• These extra-comfy slippers are washable and therefore reusable up to 7 times on average by our partner hotels. Using a Guppyfriend bag can prolong their longevity.
• They are made from a single material and are easily recyclable. The felt is composed of 96% recycled plastic bottles and 4% virgin polyester. It is GRS-certified and produced under the strict 4Sustainability protocol by our partner in Italy.
• Once the slippers' lifecycle is complete, they can be downcycled into secondary products like cleaning cloths or insulation through the Kaaita Recycling network, which operates close to partner hotels throughout Europe.
Kaaita slippers are a conscientious choice for both longer and shorter service cycles. They are available in two colour options: Beige and Grey, with a variety of added layers of comfort. A water-repellent option, Kaaita Aqua, is suitable for wetter environments, making the Kaaita Slippers range a truly outstanding choice.
"It would be great if our society learned to achieve more with less. We have reached our limits, and our collective footprint is forcing us to scale back on consumption and devastation. Hotels and spas are no exception. This is also our brand’s challenge: we want the hotel experience to be unique and entrancing, but at the same time, responsible and inspiring. Kaaita Slippers are a gentle first step in that direction."
